Abdominal wall

Abdominal wall

For a slim stomach and a new attitude to life

Even people of normal weight can develop a belly that is protruding or flabby. A belly with overhanging skin in the lower abdomen (fat apron) may also develop. Sagging of the abdominal wall can also be a sign of ageing, after pregnancy, trauma, surgery and significant fluctuations in body weight.

An abdominoplasty can remove excess fat and skin and tighten a weakened muscle in the abdominal wall area (rectus diastasis, gathering rectus fascia = rectus plication). The aim is to restore a harmonious, smoother and firmer body profile.

In cases of pronounced excess skin, the flanks and the back are also treated (so-called circular abdominoplasty, buttock lift). The abdomen, the flanks and the lateral thighs, as well as the buttocks are tightened. If the excess skin is not very pronounced, it is possible to reduce the procedure and perform a mini-abdominoplasty or a periumbilical skin tightening without moving the belly button.

Our comprehensive treatment concept combines innovative technologies with proven methods to effectively rejuvenate and care for your skin.

Nutritional counselling and diet before the procedure
If you have a BMI of over 32kg/m2 as a man or over 30kg/m2 as a woman, you should first try to reduce your weight by means of dietary advice and regular exercise. Nor can we treat the fatty tissue in the abdominal cavity. Here we recommend a clarification by the hormone specialist.
Surgery, ability to work, risks and aftercare
Abdominoplasty is usually performed under inpatient conditions (1-2 nights) and under light general anaesthesia (narcosis). The incision is made as far as possible in the lower abdominal area to hide the scar in the bikini line or underwear. Excess skin and fat are detached from the abdominal wall and removed. By sewing the diverging (standing apart) abdominal muscles together, we are able to strengthen the abdominal wall and reshape the waist. In an abdominoplasty, the navel is usually moved as well, but can also be left in place in a mini-abdominoplasty. Initial numbness in the area of the lower abdomen usually disappears within 1 - 2 years after the procedure. In rare cases, complications such as post-operative bleeding, fluid formation under the skin (seroma) and infections may occur in the first few days after the operation, which are usually treated immediately to minimise any possible impact on the result. Minor wound healing problems may also occur, but usually heal without problems. You can resume your normal daily activities about 14 to 21 days after surgery. During the first 4 to 6 weeks of recovery, a compression garment (abdominal belt, corset) is worn to support the abdomen and promote the healing process. Intensive physical exertion and sports activities should be avoided during the first 4 weeks and while wearing the corset. In the event of a thickened or unsightly scar or swelling that may develop as a result of excessive exercise or physical activity, minor surgical correction will be performed if necessary and no earlier than 6 months after surgery.
Costs
The costs include all measures such as the preliminary discussion, operation, anaesthesia and follow-up checks, excluding overnight accommodation and compression garments. In case of multiple procedures, there is a price reduction of 20% on the 2nd procedure.
